This is the lord's prayer in roughly 9th century Old English pronunciation in the standard West Saxon dialect. It is simply for the purpose of hearing the reconstructed pronunciation.

Nice to just hear a normal reading of Old English for once! Most of the ones I find are set to spooky music, Lord of the Rings type, so this is a good example to show friends what the language sounded like for normal folks back then

Extremely cool to hear. A lot of the other videos had weird music in the background -- I love that this is simply just the language, and that you put the more direct translation underneath. Thank you for the awesome upload.

I appreciate that you translated “amen” in these videos. Nice touch!

Tried to learn OE at university. Unforunately never stuck with me, but strangely I like to listen to OE from time to time. Just sounds so foreign, yet sometimes you come across some familiar sounding words. People usually asociate "Old English" with Shakespeare English (e.g. Early Modern English). When I show them actual OE they are usually like: "No, that's not old English! That's something else but not Old English." :D

It's beautiful! I discovered your channel only yesterday and I love your accurate renderings of reconstructed pronunciations.

The language of my forefathers. Also, imagine if Thomas Jefferson had successfully managed to make Old English a subject in American universities?

I learned this years ago on a YT video. This version sounds more correct, so I will be using this one now. I never forgot got to say it off the top of my head.

That's awesome, man! Your knowledge of linguistic is very impressive! I was wondering if you plan doing some video perhaps about Semitic languages? Namely Phoenician and Hebrew.

Are you sure this is old English? This almost sounds more like the Saxon language, as in the Saxons from continental Europe, not the old English that the Anglo-Saxon spoke.

Would the dental fricatives in "þu" and "þin" really have been voiceless?

I think you put too much velarization on the ll in "willa"
