Best Budget Fitness Tracker of 2022 | Xiaomi Band 7 Review

Reviewing the Xiaomi Band 7, a budget fitness tracker that packs plenty of premium smart band features and respectable health tools, one of the best at this price. The Xiaomi Band 7 also boasts Mi Fitness support and a massive, bold OLED display that's easy to read. Here's my verdict after a week of testing this fitness tracker, one of my favourites of 2022, vs Huawei, Oppo and others.

Smart steps monitoring, heart rate monitoring and SPO2 shenanigans are just a few of this wrist rocket's tricks. You also get a PAI score for how hard you're working your heart, sleep and stress tracking and over 100 fitness routines (including, er, darts, chess and eSports). Battery life is good - the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 can survive four to five days between charges. Not the best at this budget price but certainly good enough.

One of the greatest features of this tracker however is that big, crisp, colourful OLED screen. It's easy to read and a proper beauty. I had no trouble syncing with Xiaomi's Mi Fitness app on Android either.

What's your own favourite smartband right now? Have you tried out the Xiaomi Band 7 and would you also recommend? Let us know in the comments below and check out my coverage of Oppo, Honor and other rivals.

I don't think it is much of an upgrade from the band 6. Much like the difference between the 4 and 5. I'm gonna wait to the mi band 7 pro that's been announced looks interesting. Please review Chris!

I’ve had 5, 6 now 7. Minor additions or improvements but they do all that’s needed and do it well. The sharper display on 7 works great outside.

I have the band 6 and the step tracking is atrocious, walk a quarter mile and it adds 100 steps set it down and it adds 10. My family has fitbits, Apple watches, and Garmins and they all seem to agree on step amounts but mine usually has about 1/3 of what theirs say. Sleep tracking is much worse compared to my old fitbit, I’ll get an awful nights sleep and it will give me a 92 sleep score

I still have my Mi Band 6 and never fail to deliver all my juicy health infos. I bet this band could do more! Thanks for this review!

Hey man I really have an important question, can you please tell me does this band count total calories throughout the day like while just sitting down and while sleeping ? Or does it only count calories if you manually start a workout?

I really hope you reply to this or even anyone who have used the Mi band 7.

i would love a non-budget band-style smartwatch, like the Gear Fit 2 basically was. This form factor could be really nice if it were slim and curved, and not so focused on budget concerns...

I just got a Mi Band 7, really digging it. I installed some games using Mi Band 7 Watch Faces on android, definitely a great review!

Happy with the previous two versions, 5 & 6. The sleep stuff was not able to detect my afternoon sleep.
Many thirds party bands exist on eBay, etc. Many other faces also exist, with customizable elements. These are free, or low payments.
Uncertain about whether to now upgrade to a full smartwatch instead.

Adding NFC & gps would a positive move imo!

Basically the Mi Band 7 is the same as the 6, total rubbish for indoor cycling or outdoor cycling. It will read low by an easy 50% constantly. Don't believe for a second this wearable can be used for serious training. I use a Wahoo Tickr HR and a Tickr Fit monitor which always show the same HR whereas the Mi Band 7 and 6 will be way out, as an example my HR can be sitting at 170bpm and the Mi Bands will be reading anywhere between 70 - 114 bpm which is totally useless as a HR tool during cycling or spin sessions. On the upside it is fairly good if you are walking around your house type of thing. The O2 sensor tends to show about 96 - 94% whereas a dedicated O2 medical sensor shows my uptake at 99% constant (elevation = 180mt). I have found the O2 sensor will not read during cycling sessions - too much movement I suspect. And before you ask I have even tried shaving my arm to ensure the sensor can get the best possible reading on either arm. Testing conducted with 1 x Mi Band 7 and 1 x Mi Band 6

Switced from my wearos carlyle gen 5 to a smart band 7.

The user experience on wearos is horrible and the Carlyle is shit for fitness tracking.

Thanks for showing us the app. One of the things many "reviews" miss out on is showing the app that connects with the device.

I actually dislike the new design. It is far too wide and less sleek and stylish. They should have kept the slim shape and only have the pro as the wide one.

I'm still using a Mi band 5. You can get various after market bands abd I use a metal one (because me an silicone don't get on).
I may get this upgrade because It adds some sensors I want. You will need to turn up the brightness because the default level is too low.

The official mi fitness app does not support exporting data to google fit. Thats a bit of a shame.

I love my mi band 7. I quit using my fitbit as I had to be online for it to sync. With the mi band you don't and it sync a lot faster.
