the problem is not Ukraine that can give problems to Russia entering NATO. but USA using Ukraine in Nato to put rockets that can reach Moscow in less than 10 minutes. just inform yourself or at least be honest with people listeing to you.

The chairman of the All-Russian Officers’ Assembly, retired General-Colonel Leonid Ivashov, published an appeal on his organization’s website on Jan. 31 to “the President and Citizens of the Russian Federation.” The sharply worded missive, issued on behalf of the organization, ends with the words: “We, Russia’s officers, demand that the President of the Russian Federation reject the criminal policy of provoking a war in which Russia would be alone against the united forces of the West… and retire.”

Ireland is closest to what should be done. Ukraine is a country divided. Partition of Ukraine is the only possible way to peace, just like Ireland,

Forbes: "Kiev is not about to march into Moscow" Of course not. But it might march into Crimea and try to take it by force IF it is a NATO member. Georgia already did it in 2008. Ukraine might follow the example. BUT if Ukraine is NATO then we will not have a regional, short, small war BUT a world war and a Nuclear one. ALSO Ukraine is the buffer that Russia needs. A NATO member Ukraine might put Sebastopol at risk, the whole of Crimea at risk, and also Ukraine is the gateway to the Caucasus oil rich area, to the Volgograd area. (The Germans knew that was the heart of the Soviet Union and that is why the brutal battle of Stalingrad). Also if Ukraine is part of NATO, then the US, UK, Germany, Poland, etc, etc can place large armies there with offensive weapons to include hypersonic missiles that can reach Moscow in about 7 minutes. All Red lines to Russia. Not very different than when the Soviet Union tried to place missiles in Cuba in the 60s. A red line for the US

We were neutral up to 2014 when Russia invaded us, Russia took the option of neutrality off the table.

I've been watching a lot of WW1 & 2 Docos & be buggered if the moves being made by all sides at present don't have the feel of war I just hope our leaders avoid such a conflict because if the nukes come out out I fear no one will survive.

Thanks for capturing our attention by providing us some information and entertainment, and then resell our attention to other broadcasting agencies around the globe. The fact is ordinary people in Ukraine and Russia suffer because the liberal world order have not learned its lesson in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and elsewhere. The liberal world order has been creating chaos for decades, and then came up with this statement: Putin is a Hitler and Zelensky is a hero. If you wish to know the cause of this problem, the Hitler-like people are Ukrainians politicians who proudly banned Russian language in schools, desperately wanted to join the NATO and make Crimea as a NATO base for global security. We just cannot afford another Yugoslavia and another ethnic violence. Please do not fan the flame. We need to a practical solution.

I think Mr. Forbes could have looked at this a little closer. I see it as 2 issues Russia has raised. Minsk 2 agreement stalled, not fully implemented. Security concerns regarding NATO encroachment along his borders. I think they should implement Minsk 2, Ukraine allow Donsbas to be indep. region, under Ukraine as a country. Russia and rebels withdraw troops, demobilize. 2nd, Crimea, allow them to be indep., but under Ukraine as a country. It would be much like the USA or EU countries, they have a Federal or Natioanl gov't, but indep. States or regions. 3rd, NATO has offerred some security guarantees, compromise in troop and weapons deployments, along with Russian compromises. We should still keep NATO open for countries to join, including Ukraine. For Ukraine, they could leverage Russia, USA, and EU to help improve economy, be clever, and do business with all three.

The greatest aspect of this war is, where to put the new border between Russia and New Ukraine.

On the "diplomatic solution" "crisis" in Moldova we hear since 1992. Since the beginning of the war! and that "diplomats have decided the crisis"?! NO! They only began to buy gas, oil, gold in Moscow and stand in line to work in Gazprom! Germany in 2014 began to build a "North Stream 2", when the war in Ukraine began! And forbade Ukraine to protect himself! Diplomats did not stop any war on the territory of the former USSR since 1991! None! Vice versa! After each war they arrived in Moscow with the "perezagruzka" button!

What is the ROI for Russia escalating this tension, when you consider the premium it exerts on oil & gas prices?? I have a feeling that the mobilization pays for itself.
