Land Work, New Tools & a Deadly Chilli Sauce - OFF GRID HOMESTEAD

I've been totally focused on the window hole in my DIY barn conversion in Portugal that I've let many other things slide! The land is quite neglected and I have a lot of little tasks to get to including processing chillis into a fermented hot sauce, closing off the pool, trimming olive trees, and some other fun things thrown in as well!

I've loved the window work but life out there on the land doesn't stop so this video sees me playing a bit of catch up and I'll be back at the window again this week.

I hope you enjoy this video, thanks for watching!

"Hi Sinead" 👋👋👋🤣

Great to see Kerry's build. I made an insect screen like that for my window - I bought inexpensive softwood battens, and made two matching size frames, and stretched insect cloth across one, then screwed the second frame on top, sandwiching the screen cloth between the frames. I was able to then drill through the sides of the double frame, into the walls, and fix it in place that way.

I guessed seven, but didn't write until Larry gave the number so it doesn't count:) I love your videos, ....I keep thinking i could retire/live in portugal in a simpler life and your videos give me inspiration and entertainment:)

Move the sink over and make a work counter under the window, a bar stool in front of the window sipping coffee or tea would be lovely every morning and evening!

I think you could make a beautiful cutting board that would cover your sink, then it would become a great work surface. Yeah to using screens, hate bugs!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

I like your enthusiasm towards the new clipper and also Larry at the end, doing what cats do best, annoy you when you try to do something.

I believe that is a Linden tree, Tília, in Portuguese. They give great shade and tea. It will send out a lovely perfume two months out of the year. I’m growing one myself. They take a long time to grow, but once they do, they become huge trees. They are a symbol of truth and justice. One can’t tell a lie under the linden tree. I love your videos. Hope to one day meet you and your friend. I’m here in the US, but I have a home further north from you, by Serra da Estrela.

I'm just watching you marvel at your new Kebtek clipper "on a stick"; I don't think I've ever seen you so happy! Give a Canadian gal a great tool and she goes to town on her farm!! 😆 Your trees already look beautiful! The tree in front of your home will have lots of new branches in short order. The only negative aspect of pruning is the work clearing up afterwards. I'd have as much fun if I had the same opportunity and I'm reveling in your tidied tress as if I'd done the work myself. My daughter's hubby just prepared his hot sauce and I believe he was wearing a face mask and goggles to do so. Kerry's house looks wonderful. I love the view out of your window and it must feel great to know you'll have sun streaming in during the winter. That's a timely project, indeed. Thank you for sharing your wonderful life in Portugal Kirsty! Have a great week! Angela

The new tree trimmer is great. It will be so handy for cleaning up the olive trees. A clear view from the window would nice. If you put in Mullins maybe only one per side.

I love volunteers in the garden! You can just store them in a cool place somewhere and have roast squash all winter long. I've been dying for you to trim the front olive tree, so yay! Looks good.

That is going to be a potent chilli sauce. Enjoy. Keri has a very nice home. I’ll go for 7 squash. It appears to be such a fun place to live with the various events.
