Plan a vacation 5-6 months out that you can pay for then. A lot of times just having the goal in the sights is enough to calm down those feelings.

This is why I love the Ramsey’s, they don’t deviate from the baby steps. After I paid $150k and building up 3-6 months emergency fund, I feel guilty to pay for $10 lunch once a week.

Getting out of debt is living counter culture and feeling left out .

Don't be afraid to vacation in your own place, home, house, apartment or whatever you want to call it. Whatever you're looking for in a vacation, you can make possible without even "going all out".

We’re had 25 years of great vacations backpacking on long trail. Gets you in shape, see scenery most people never see, and costs are minimal.

Debt free for years, all thrown on house and paid off a year ago this month. Got more money than I know what to do with!

Dave really said it well, and so did Rachel. Money turns a crisis into an inconvenience. I tore the sidewall of a tire on a jagged curb in front of my friend’s house one evening. We called AAA, got the car towed to Costco, and they replaced the tire immediately. I paid very little because the tire had only 5-10 percent wear. We talked about how because I had AAA and a Costco membership, it was only an inconvenience. I was grateful, and happy to have a friend who felt the same.

Emergencies don't seemingly happen to people with emergency funds because people who are smart enough to have them to begin with don't tend to make poor decisions throughout the day. If you're the type of person that thinks you can go on vacation while having no money, you're also probably making poor decisions throughout the day. Which only increases the chances one will bite you bad eventually.

Lol, it's so true. When your unprepared, that's exactly when things break or stuff happens.

Sure you can, either save up, or take a vacation to your second job.

Also, make sure that your wife is happy. Don't ignore her in the name of Ramsey. Have a discussion about it.

Go on a 3 day mini long weekend vacation (so as to not overstay your welcome) and visit a relative. We've both done this and hosted relatives doing this, and it is very affordable. You eat at the home, and one time during the visit we treated them to a dinner out, also covered groceries. All we had to pay for was the dinner and groceries (which we would have bought at home anyway) and gas to get there and back. We went and did sightseeing at local attractions on the cheap (parks and such). Very affordable and a much needed break and change of pace.

300$ for a Dinner?! Bro I could afford a small vacation with that

Go on a day trip: explore some part of your state you've never been to. That's to scratch the it. Just don't go into debt to pay for that vacation because it will take away some of the happy memories.

The answer isn’t no, it’s when. They’ve earned the vacation, they just need to have the cash saved to pay for it.

It's not really a vacation if you are stressed the whole time about what could potentially go wrong with no Emergency Fund! And always over budget for vacations, there's always added costs that pop up somewhere.

Building my primary emergency fund nonstop biweekly for about three decades. Even when broke.
Never needed and it keeps growing. Part of the reason why I'm not concerned about inflation.
It will be part of my long term care plan for later if needed.
