Traffic Intersection Simulation using Pygame (Part 1)

Показать описание

We are developing a simulation from scratch using Pygame to simulate a 4-way traffic intersection along having traffic lights with timer. Each signal has a timer on top of it which shows the time remaining for the signal to switch from green to yellow, yellow to red, or red to green. Vehicles such as cars, bikes, buses, trucks, and rickshaws are generated and their movement is controlled according to the signals and the vehicles around them. The image below is a snapshot showing the output of the simulation we will be building.

This is great! What's the algorithm for the traffic lights changing? Is it hard coded or are they working off of a variable? Would be super cool to see a traffic system that uses a balance of hard coded times and feedback from the cars to tell how many cars are in front, triggering a change in the lights.

Great work!

Hey there! Great job. How can I change the direction of traffic flow so that vehicles going up are on the right side, while vehicles going down are on the left side? Similarly, vehicles going towards the left should be in the right lane, and vehicles going towards the right should be in the right lane
