Judge Blocks Rule on Non-Discrimination in Health Care

On July 3, two days before it was to take effect, a Federal Judge in Mississippi blocked the US Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services new rule to strengthen non-discrimination protections in health care. The final rule was issued under section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. The Feds say the rule was necessary to make sure people in all communities have a right to access health care, free from discrimination. The Court disagreed. We explain.
