I think more than anything its this collective pride and personal sense of ownership in art that turns people off of what they might consider "hipster" and thus a part of the various interconnecting cultures the content is produced and consumed by. I could see how one might detest the irony in a declaration of originality and separation from the mainstream, when the same content becomes more popular than, and thus influences/surmounts, the culture that came before it (i.e. top 40 etc)
