COVID-19: Loss of Taste! 😋

A significant portion of people who test positive for COVID-19 experience a sudden loss of smell or taste. People usually notice the loss of smell, but because smell is necessary to taste flavour, the symptoms are often connected.

The reason this happens is not fully understood yet; scientists believe that the virus causes an inflammatory reaction inside the nose, leading to a loss of the olfactory – or smell – neurons. The loss of taste is trickier; we have little idea about how the coronavirus affects taste.

I was eating strawberry bananna cheerios when I realized I couldnt taste the flavor. I do get a mild sense of sweetness from things, but no flavor.

I have COVID and lost 100% taste and smell. It's a bit depressing, but it's like a super power. I am having the time of my life eating all kinds of foods I would never eat if I could taste or smell it. I even ate a spoonful of ketchup! :') This loss of smell and taste is like my only symptom. Spoonfulls of peanut butter are interesting, and mints are like flavorless chalk. I think I'll be spending too much money with Doordash ordering groceries and foods to try

I have Covid at the moment, every taste metallic. Almost like blood when u bite your tongue or cheek just 10x stronger.

one day while I have my lunch and I was chewing a chilli and it's feeling like I was chewing a piece of paper.. I was shocked and after lunch I tested my body temperature and it's about 37..

my question is, is this symptoms only with covid_19?
but I didn't have fever longer than 1 day, the next day I got my taste back..
now, I'm not sure do I had covid-19 or not.

It’s been 8 long dreadful months that I’ve been without taste and smell. I really am in a depressing mood, like this is not LIFE. I’ve asked so many doctors if they know what can reverse this, they all play with my time and the end result is absolutely nothing. I really wish these scientists/doctors who are in the lab whipping up these vaccines, whip up a solution for us suffering from this virus. Like I wanted to have an eventful summer trying new foods, seeing new places. It’s definitely no fun not being able to enjoy the things you were once able to do. I truly hope a doctor or someone makes a cure for this god awful thing.

I can't taste anything but the textures of flavorless food makes me want to Vomit.
This is the worst part of the illness for me
