Brockton Hill is a Jungian analyst in private practice in Southern California. He received a Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law before earning his master’s degree in counseling psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. He then went on to receive his Jungian training, earning a Diploma in Analytical Psychology from the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles.
Mr. Hill is currently on the faculty of the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute, serving in their psychoanalytic training program, and lectures at the LA Jung Institute where he served as President for the last two years and has been a Training Program Instructor since 2010.
He has lectured on Jung’s Two Essays on Analytical Psychology, Seminar on Nietzsche’s Zarathustra, and the Red Book. His public lectures include “Tarot as Archetypal Representation,” “Ariadne & Medea: Woman’s Experience of Abandonment in Mid-Life,” “Psychological Defenses as Symbolized in the Horoscope,” “Systemic Financial Collapse: Pluto’s Transit of Capricorn,” and the topic of today’s talk, “When Worlds Collide: Psychological Astrology and Terrorism.” In 2011, he appeared on a panel at the Wadsworth Theatre in Los Angeles to discuss the movie, A Dangerous Method, for the film series, Reel Talk with Stephen Farber.
Mr. Hill’s publications include “Living in a Time of Nonsense: Lessons from Liber Primus in the Face of the Rounds of Hades,” “Uroborus: A Review of Jung’s Thinking on the Nature of the Psyche & the Transformation of Libido,” and a film review of A Dangerous Method, the story of Jung, Freud, and Sabina Spielrein.
He is presently a member of the Board of Directors, the Certifying Board, and the Personnel Committee at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, as well as a former past president of the Board of Directors and a member of the Ethics Committee. From 1996 through 2005, he served as Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Pacific Clinics in Pasadena, the largest non-profit mental health provider in the western United States. He also maintains private practices in Pasadena and West Los Angeles.
