I was fixing an e38 735 with an m62b35. Timing chains, guides etc. When I fired it up it idled at 3k RPM. It was the first time I started the engine since I bought the car cause it sat for 7 years and there was metal in the oil filter.

All I had to do was remove the idle control valve, spray wd40 into it, smack it against the ground, wash it with some brake cleaner and reinstall it. Idled perfectly after that and I could carry on.

Those idle control valves are well fun to clean

This is one of those small things that mechanics (here where I live) just don't want to do because they can spend that time on a job that will pay them much better money.
The number of cars on the roads keeps rising, the quality of both cars and drivers keeps dropping, even shitty workshops have their schedules full for weeks.
Not a good situation for the client, unfortunately.

EVERYONE PLEASE HELP See I did that and replaced the gasket that attaches the ICV to the intake and I'm still having the issue but it only happens when the car is warm. It's not the intake boot or hose that goes to the ICV or the ICV cuz I've replaced all of those and clean the ICV with new circular gasket that connects the ICV to the intake and I'm just like what the f*** what else could it be? Everything else doesn't leak. I say that because I'm able to drive it fine for a while. It gets up to temp stays there for like a couple minutes and then randomly it decides it's going to surge the idle like crazy and when I attempt to drive it more it applies throttle slightly rapidly which is very annoying and it is just even more irritating because I know everything related to the ICV and throttle body is just fine. I also replaced the throttle position sensor and the issue is still there. No change so please anyone. I'm losing my mind here. I don't want to spend my whole second paycheck towards a mechanic trying to fix the issue and I need this problem fixed ASAP because my job starts soon. So it's do or die. I put so much time and a damn good amount of money that I truly did not have into it and it needs to start providing because right now I'm getting a licking with an ass smack back home every single time and it is not fun
