Department of Wildlife offers tips to keep coyotes away

People living near Tropicana and Boulder Highway say coyotes are terrorizing their neighborhood. Here's what you can do to keep the animals away.

Lights don’t work. Why should I keep my dogs inside when I bought a house with a yard to run in. I’m spending more time and money on a coyote proof kennel so my dogs can go potty anytime of the day or night. It’s nonsense.

Department of wildlife should not have a say concerning what goes on in your own yard‼ If something is threatening you, your family or pets you should protect them in any way possible. No one should have to confine themselves or their pets on the own property. I guess the department of wildlife doesn't tell folks that coyotes are carrier's of rabies and other diseases, or they can jump a fence 6 foot high, or that they can run up to 60 miles per hour. And I'm certainly sure they don't tell people that coyote look at humans as prey when they're really hungry and can snatch a child within seconds‼ Protect your family and pets, and yourself.

This is my problem. 3 feet from my front door, every night a pack walks by.If they aren't spooking us they're fighting neiborhood dogs, making noise all night.I didn't know it was illegal to shoot them though .

I recently discovered a big hole something dug under the fence to get in (guessing a coyote). We have 3 big dogs (one 100lbs German Sheperd), & a small dog. I always go out with the dogs (for potty breaks) especially the little one. The thing I didn't say is we also have a bunch of chickens. We have about a 2-to-2-and-a-half-acre area fenced off (with very soft dirt). Any idea's how to keep them out? All that I can come up with is two separate strands of barbed wire, one on the bottom of the fence, one on top.

The lights don't work against our problem they're working but the coyotes couldn't care less.
