I’m kinda put off by the idea of growing up in poverty = tough hard nosed mindset. It’s expensive to break through in mma gym dues ain’t free unless you’ve been “blessed”.

Example the Gracie family were of affluence pre jiujitsu.

BJ Penn imo best ever at 155 lbs was a son of a apartment complex owner who sent him off to San Jose CA to train jiujitsu 3 times a day for 3 years

The rags to riches story is real but not the only story if you are willing to run the miles spar the rounds lose the weight & win consistently and stay healthy/lucky……all the best
