Jahlil Okafor - Postup Powerhouse

Jahlil Okafor grew up idolizing Tim Duncan, and the Big Fundamental’s influence is readily apparent when you watch the former Blue Devil. The rook has moves. Tons of 'em. To the point that David Robinson (2x NBA Champion, MVP in 1995), compared the two when Okafor was still playing in Durham. That’s high praise considering the Admiral was Timmy’s mentor and longtime teammate.

Big Jah has the unenviable task of being compared to one of the greatest players of all time, while also playing for the team that has lost the most in NBA history (the streak from earlier this season). He’s also been dealing with a few off-court incidents. Long story short, it’s been less than ideal for the big man.

The good news is that Jahlil had an all-time great coach defending his character. If Mike Krzyzewski says this guy is “one of the greatest kids ever,” then we should be patient with him. The young fella’s hands might just be big enough that he can help turn Philly’s fortunes around. After all, he’s not even half a season into his NBA career yet, but he’s already impressed enough to warrant a video.

This video isn’t entirely about post play. The Chicago native has such a polished offensive game for a young big man, that it’s hard to capture everything in one video. What I did want to do was showcase his range, surprising handle, and fantastic footwork. Please enjoy the myriad moves of one Jahlil Okafor.

Beautiful post play. We need more of this in the NBA.

This NBA, where teams all want to play the same, guys like Okafor are a forgotten commodity. Taking a closer look at his game he can still provide valuable minutes as an impact player. Great motor, great hands can shoot but his greatest asset is his post game. Teams shouldn’t try to keep up with the run and gun style and should look to slow the game down. Keeping it close down the stretch of games it’s better to have a reliable post player than to live and die by the 3-in my opinion

He's thriving in all this space that he didn't have in college, it lets him really go to work

I'm still a fan and would love to see a NBA team take a chance on him. He can score in the post, draw fouls, and rebound.

This guy is schooling guys who have been in the league 3+ years. And it's it's his First. Cmon cuh!

If they gave him the same patience the Bucks gave Giannis, he’d be the biggest post threat the league has ever seen. Teams were stupid to not give him a chance to succeed.

they weren't lying. how he gets the bucket is like wilt Chamberlain. he finger rolls it in or a light toss in and his footwork is phenomenal

This kid is great offensively. I'm a Celtic fan and we need someone like him, but he is a HEADCASE.

Regardless of what he achieves in the NBA, I think I will enjoy watching him. It's really enjoyable to watch a player with huge ass hands, it allows them to do weird ass moves that look cool.

Apparently the last one was taken down, so I made a few changes. Here's hoping this one can stay up.

I watched Jahlil pick apart my Bucks down low tonight. A team really needs to give him a chance to shine as a scorer.

Dwight Howard still doesn't have this type of Low Post Fundamentals.

Bro Okafor, Noel, and Embiid on the same team would have been insane. All that hype they had back in the day just never panned out unfortunately

I've always said, you need a spin move, eurostep, good midrange shot, hook shot, baby hook and a floater, to make it in the modern NBA as a Big, Okafor has all of that besides great defense.

That spin-move ranks with the greatest Centers of all-time.
Please let Okafor out of Philadelphia

There was a certain time when I thought Jahlil would be better than Embiid…. Boy I was dead wrong but I was so confident on it
