bass clarinet finally gets the melody

this is a clip from another honor band :) piece is "The March of Tim(e)" -- highly recommend! all the parts have really cool licks. It's a bit of a canon.

I love playing the Bass Clarinet, almost as much as I love the Soprano or Contrabass Clarinet. I'm currently a high school student playing these, and I really love being in band with all my friend. What a great Clarinet world we live in, am I right Mozart?

As a bass clarinet player myself, I really love when bass clarinet gets the melody, I just hate it when *I* have to play the melody bc I get anxious and absolutely fluke it. Like in the piece I'm practicing rn called Benediction(I think?) I'm one of the main instruments for the melody, and it's difficult because their all high notes TvT

I started off as a clarinet player for 2 years and absolutely loved the fun melodies I got. However, I then switched to bass clarinet not only because our band needed one, but I was also getting bored of the regular clarinet. My band teacher always forgot about the bass clarinets but it's alright lol-I've NEVER been in any sort of main melody ever since😔

as someone who's best friends with a bass clarinetist and is an alto saxophonist and sometimes bass clarinetist (we don't really melody all that often, at most it's harmony, but usually it's just similar to whatever bass clarinet is playing, like, even tenors get it more than us), i can relate to the feeling of pride when we get melody

In the song Incantation be Robert W Smith bass clarinet gets melody and a little feature that can be a duet or solo. And another piece by him Into the Storm there is a Flute and Bass Clarinet duet. My two favorite instruments.
