Just so you know, from what I saw in the CN community, Genshin censors any in-game name change regarding to Azur Promilia. You cant change your name to "Azur Promilia". Yup, thats hoyo for you.

As an Azur Lane veteran, I can say that it was expected for Azur Promilia to be a female character gacha because of how Manjuu has always been with Azur Lane. In Azur Lane, the only male character was the MC (Commander) and a few years ago a male NPC was added (Dr. Aoste) and it was well received as he helped a lot with the lore.

The CN drama was because the leaker not only shared the images but also they were saying much more misleading information, but Manjuu was quick to react and released the statement that confirms that Azur Promilia will be a female centric gacha with male NPCs (That itself is a big step for them tbh) and that the images were from very early development and all the others rumors fake. For the most part, the Azur Lane community is very chill but as with any other gacha community, the CN side is on a whole different level....
