UST STS PROJECT: Sustainable Development Goal #6: Clean Water and Sanitation

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), often known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 international objectives with the purpose of promoting peace and prosperity and addressing global crises affecting human welfare and the health of the environment.

Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation - goes beyond drinking water, sanitation and hygiene to also address the quality and sustainability of water resources, which are critical to the survival of people and the planet. While substantial progress has been made in increasing access to clean drinking water and sanitation, billions of people—mostly in rural areas—still lack these basic services. The 2030 Agenda recognizes the centrality of water resources to sustainable development and the vital role that improved drinking water, sanitation and hygiene play in progress in other areas, including health, education and poverty reduction.
