To all people complaining about skateboarding being in the Olympics : all this shit is happening for a reason... we are all skateboarding, and we made and still make what skateboarding is today. We chose to play THPS, wear Nike, Adidas, drink Redbull, watch SLS and many other things that made skateboarding popular amongst kids. The times when skateboarding was a thing you would do down your street without a camera are way over... Skateboarding, like every other thing that grows, always become as such. You make it grow, to a point it influences other things than skateboarding - especially in a world in which everything is centered towards money... I'm not happy or sad, I will skate until my knees can't handle it anymore XD

I’m lowkey not even mad about this. It’s actually pretty cool seeing and knowing how skating can go but there is no way the Olympics will ever be able to put how much fun someone has on a chart

Phelper had to die before this happened. He couldn't exist in a world like that. Right now we're living through the end of an era, skating in the Olympics, and the death of Jake Phelps mark the end of the illegal, vandalism, getting gnarly, fuck you to the police kind of skateboarding, It felt like part of my childhood died when I heard about it and it for real hurt, it's just a huge bummer. I used to get beat up and made fun of for being a skateboarder, you didn't skate to be cool, you actually had to kind of suffer through being really not cool honestly. At least that's how it was growing up in Louisville. We were outcasts but it was also like this dope fucking secret society/mob type shit. We had our own language and style and way of looking at the world, you knew you were a part of something real and special and you had to suffer for it. I ran from cops it seems like nearly every fuckin day of my life, because we were criminals baby! Its not like that anymore though, everything is way different now. Shit sucks. Fuck the Olympics.
