Unfortunate news about Badgley. It will be interesting to see who the Lions bring in for competition for Bates. On another note, now would be a great time to bring Jason Hanson on board to work with the young kickers. He still lives in the area and has helped in training young kickers. I know kickers aren’t usually viewed as skilled positions but Hanson had an exceptional career as a Lion, particularly being named AP OROY in 1992.
While the team has been historically bad, they’ve had successful kickers during those years: Eddie Murray, Jason Hanson and Matt Prater. Imagine if Matt Prater had been with the team for the past 3 years. Since signing with Denver his FG average has been around 80% with his longest being 62yds.

I'm really curious what these "analytics" they're talking about cause if a kicker is 70% from 50 yards and you are 40% getting a first down on 4th, that's not the same as 40% to get a touchdown. You still have to drive the rest of the way, and every play is a chance for turnover. Getting a FG seems really underrated right now.
