It would be much better to analyse the Delhi Sultanates and the Mughal state as Turkic, Central Asian states in India rather than as Indian states; it would be academically more consistent and would help match it with their priorities which lay in the conflicts of Central Asia more than India.

Even their own chronicles are filled with more references to politics and personalities of Central Asia, the Iranian Plateau and Anatolian Turkey than it is with the local people, whom they had largely subjugated under empire.
