Hey man, I’ve been following your channel for the past few weeks and you solidified my desire to go into EE. You’re truly are underrated, keep it up 💪🏼

Thanks for charing your experience. It is matching my exp. pretty much. Especially helpful for people starting with EE.

8 GB wouldn’t be enough for a smooth experience though. You’d have to budget what’s running, and sometimes, you want some apps running at the same time. I have multiple tabs and windows open, and it’s often hitting the 16 GB ceiling :(

I feel like ECAD Software and SPICE simulation software should also be on that list... that raises the requirements quite a bit. You don't want Altium Designer or Simulink with a slightly heavier model runnning on an 8GB RAM machine

What about linux ? Have you used it ?
I used it for some time and I liked the freedom of customizability. May be I was just wasting my time. But I went back for games.

Do you think it would benefit me to use linux if I'm planning on working in embedded systems.
I'm currently 2nd year ELE.

And I was thinking of 16gb for simulation software in the background and gaming (during breaks) as minimum RAM so my PC don't stutter at all.

I actually would suggest getting at least a 2GB dGPU (for laptop) and if you can afford a 4-6GB dGPU would be REALLY GREAT!

I have had times when a couple of my programs crashed or just did not work smoothly because I did not have a dGPU. So you might not need the dGPU power at all times but when you need it, you will have it if you get a computer with a dGPU.

Great video(s) Ali!

What graphics card in InTel and AMD should be the bare minimum considered for simulation and other softwares? Is intel Arc370M good?

I will be honest, I don't take any notes. I found out my first (HARD learned lesson) year that I never look at my notes, so I just cut it as a time waste and spent more time doing HW

64GB memory Ram?, With that I could run my freeCAD faster than ever (like a squirrel) and don't say about TIA Portal 😎😎.

If you were to learn a new subject from what is your note taking process or your general learning system? I’ve heard memorization is a poor proxy for understanding. I can regurgitate what I’ve learned but not contribute. Do you have a video on this? Thanks

Is Lenovo Thinkpad X395 laptop enough? It's AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Pro, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSB?
