I have a tip. Put your fingers over the the ring so you are holding it on the sides and the hole is covered by the palm of your hand. What this does is steadies the ring for throwing. It's by no means a guarantee but I have better success doing it this way

Always go for the row that is closest to you instead of the red bottle.

I have a 100% win record on ring toss. Granted, I only played once at Busch Gardens in Tampa and won an >4’ tall Siberian tiger. That was in eighth grade in March 1994.
I retired a winner.

Best tip I can offer is to go for the ones closest to you. A lot of places actually block off the front row because it's the easiest (since it's the closest). Obviously it's a hard game all around, but for the best chance go for the closest. Also to add, their prize size doesn't equate to the difficulty imo. I'm used to seeing larger prizes.

At Circus Circus Las Vegas, the attendant must have been new. He was talking up the game like a carnival barker should but I guess no one told him not to try and place a ring on the bottle. He shouted, "It's easy! Just toss the ring on the bottle." He TRIED to put a ring on the bottle but it didn't fit! He immediately realized his mistake. I, along with everyone else watching, walked away.

The other method is to flip them in the air so they spin as they go down
