Long term, Martinez should be converted to a CDM and backup Ugarte. His physical and defensive weaknesses won’t be a problem in that position. With the depth we currently have in CBs (may need one more RCB) and the limited number of cheap option in the midfield market, it could be a great way to make the squad better

Dalot does do a few good things in a game - sometimes I think though that it masks the mistakes he makes. Lately in games I've seen Dalot unmarked out on the left, and when I say unmarked, I mean he's in acres of space - So it looks good, the ball ends up with him and he's involved... But, he's in so much space... but, he doesn't actually make the best use of this space when you think about it. And I think the opposition know this, so they let him have all that space, why not! I'm with you, I'd rather bring in some youth, someone that has the legs and passion.. And If we get beat, then we get beat. But, we ge beat trying.

I'd personally start Mazraoui as LCB to cover Dalot against Salah.
Salah usually tends to cut in, so having someone quick to bounce as soon as he beats Dalot is crucial.
And i think Mazraoui is the most tactically aware and fit guy to cover those areas. (We saw that when he played RCB when Amad played RWB)
Keep in mind that TAA will push inverted which will block Mainoo/Ugarte to cover Dalot when he loses the 1vs1.

Secondly, playing Dalot & Mazraoui as wingbacks in the last 5 games was the big tactical mistake imo.
They're not good at holding the ball and slowing down the opposition press. In fact, it left us very weak in transitions. Which was the major reasons of the goal conceded recently.

So I'd start Amad as RWB cause he's got a good first touch, and can carry the ball to find the simple pass.

I definitely think you're correct in saying Kukonki should get some minutes. He is young and can take on new ideas quickly, plus he is left footed and athletic and all the reasons you gave but starting at Anfield isn't the one, my friend :D Salah is on fire right now and obviously Anfield is going to be a volatile atmosphere full of gloating scousers who will be on our back whenever any mistakes get made. I'm not saying he can't feature at all but say bring him on at 60/70 minutes if we're losing and not really up to much.

Maybe Martinez could become a one of the two in a pivot. His such a good passer and he's got the tenacity in the middle of the park he just is'nt a channel defender and that is why we are so vulnerable on the left hand side

I know the lad is an absolute tank but that’s a lot for a 16/17 year old especially since the team are struggling and the fact we also have an 18 year old Yoro possibly playing in the back line with him maybe give him a cup game or Europa league game and a few sub appearances see how he does before throwing him in full time. We need to use collier more would rather he get minutes then casimero at the moment.

Kukonki LCB, Amass LWB, Dan Gore CM and Chido FW: are probably what we need. I bet we can get more out of them then these snakes on high wages. I can accept losing a game with academy players rather than pros
