Meet Maria De Leon. Maria was working as a movement disorder specialist when she started noticing PD symptoms in herself. Her YOPD diagnosis spurred her to connect with other women to better understand their unique symptoms and needs. Today, she’s on a mission to empower women living with Parkinson’s to find the best version of themselves in spite of chronic illness and to ensure everyone, including those in East Texas where she lives, have equitable access to the PD treatments they deserve.

In Part 3 of our series in collaboration with ParkinsonTV and their new documentary, The Long Road to Hope, we’ll watch Maria’s episode from the documentary, diving deeper into her journey and her passion to expand access to PD education and resources.
