Sailing Canoe

I broke my foot and can't kite so I decided to build a sailing rig for my canoe. Lots of fun but sure seems slow when compared to kiteboarding! filmed on the Laguna Madre

@bugpower18t it's a crab claw rig, easily made yourself from a tarp or cheap canvas and long thick dowels(1" to 1 1/2" dowel rods). it's essentially a piece of fabric in a triangle with long dowels on the two sides and connecting one to the top of the mast and letting the other one loose to hang down and arranged so it's stopped by the mast from going forward. it's good to make a small model of a rig before making it big scale, then you know everything, just need to make it bigger.

Hey any info on your sailing kit. I plan on doing one myself and would like to know if you used a kit or just built it yourself. Sold the Catalina 22 last week and looking at canoes tomorrow.

it's "slow", not much slower than if you were paddling and is a lot less work.
