Hey Kevin. Thanks for sharing this. It helped me. Could you please mention the purpose of the smaller chip on the side (the one with micro usb). Is it for uploading the LED blink program ? Also did you just need the arduino IDE or any other additional software to bootload the mega chip?

Hey i also tried to program atmega2560 as standalone, bootloader got burned and once my program also got uploaded n worked but second time i tried to upload program it didnt upload, i m using arduino uno rx tx and reset pin to upload program can u help me
