the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is both pernicious and psychologically antithetical whilst simultaneously promulgating their extreme love and devotion for each other and power.
'Too full of the milk of human kindness'
- Lady Macbeth's soliloquy exemplifies the juxtaposition between her ambition and femininity. This is significant as ironically Lady Macbeth becomes mad with guilt, whilst Macbeth's power in the patriarchy only grows. Shakespeare uses the noun 'milk' as a metaphor to emasculate Macbeth and symbolise child-like innocence. Whilst the noun 'human' serves to foreshadow how Lady Macbeth must dehumanise herself due to contextual stereotypes of women.
