Anyone who's gone 30 km on the water can appreciate just how fast 60+ is!

I'm no sailor, but I know for a fact that rando's who watch SailGP have no appreciation for just how fast and scary these cats are.

This is by far the best sport I've ever watched.

Showing the wind direction is a great addition.

90km/hr is insane for sailing!!!! Incredible

Nothing scarier than being broadside catapulted out of a catamaran. Feel like you're flying for an hour and your just like "well shit".

France was fucking flying at the end shot there

This is pretty much the F1 equivalent in sailing with hydrofoil sailing catamarans that have a team of 6-8 crew. There is a set course marked with marine bouys, start and finish line. There is usually a wind direction, wind speed and plenty rules. The sailing boats or in this case catamarans are competing just before the final 200-300 yards. The Canadian team needed to turn into the wind (marked by little white lines over the video) in order to avoid capsizing, thus almost stalling their ship. Might have been a stronger gust, a pilot mistake or a right of way issue … or the combination of all 3 here.

For anyone who doesn't know, the same speed on water, is a LOT faster than on land lol 10mph in a car feels like nothing, but on a boat, jesos haha

Tim Horton's was on the right side just before the finish line eh 😅 🇨🇦

I love the high wind races for the action, but the strategy with the low-wind like in Abi Dhabi is fun too...I'm hoping we see a lot more of the fast races this year.

I used to think that doing 20+ on a Hobie 14 was fast. Scary fast. Stick the nose in, pitch pole and find yourself way far away in the water.

In normal sailing rules rule 17 would prohibit a dirty move like this from NZ, perhaps it wasn't a good idea for this rule to be deleted in SailGP

Every Sailor know its was a Dirty moove and Canada maybe save life of sailor by making that BALL epic turn .

The french slipstreaming like crazy at the end

That looked dirty . If Canada would have covered their track they would have been rear ended by NZ .

Imagine having a sailboat approachinng from behind with a 15kmh delta when you're already doing 65+ kmh.

These boats are mind boggling fast.

SailGP has special rules but normally overtaking boat has limited rights depending on how they establish the overlap

I’m so proud that my dad is from New Zealand when I watch sailing😊

That's actually a great analogy for Canada at this moment 😅
