It's not just that they're both Scottish and played for Scotland, or that they both played fullback, or that they both played for Liverpool... it's that both of them did all 3 of those things! 😂

Steve won 4 league titles, 3 FA Cups, a European Cup and was FWA Footballer of the Year!

Stevie Nicol was not just a great full back but also an all rounder. I remember he scored a hatrick vs Newcastle playing as a makeshift striker.

Stevie was awesome, was lucky enough to watch him play for reds in 1980s and early 90s

Could play anywhere apart from GK and centre forward

Steve Nicol was awesome. This idea that football started in 1992 with the Premier League gets me so angry. In the 1980's when I was a boy following football it also bothered me that football was considered to have 'started' after the Second World War. I remember a time when mags and newspapers were talking as if only Spurs and Arsenal won the double and when Liverpool did it in 1986 it was there were only 3 teams when in fact Villa and I think Preston also did it. It seems to me that football is reset every 40 or 50 years. This is also when they make the statistics of goal scorers with Shearer on top and forget all the great forwards of the old First Division for over a 100 years.

For the casuals out there who dont know, Nicol would be a shoo-in within an all time great Liverpool starting 11. He was that good.

Nicol was a better player than Robertson, believe it or not. Fantastic player back in the day.

Stevie Nicol was a huge favourite in 1989-90 title season. Real warrior in the middle of the park who scored plenty of goals as well.

Stevie Nicol absolute legend, saw him score a header at the Anfield Rd end against Luton (2-2) circa 1987/88

Kids of today have no idea how good Steve Nicol was, i grew up watching old VHS tapes of the great liverpool sides in the 80s and 90s and he was a top player.

I was there when Steve missed the first penalty in Rome and it completely lulled the italians into thinking they'd already won the cup.
