I had a beautiful octopus I named GT, due to the racing stripe that would appear and disappear when we played hide and seek. GT was awesome. I never knew about the short lifespan until he got towards the end of his life and I was frantically trying to find out why he was going downhill and what I needed to do to 'heal' him. Broke my heart losing him. I will never have another again, my time with him was too short, can't go through that pain again.
Love watching your videos though, bittersweet memories. Like Bridie, GT too would seek out my hand and want to sit in it, not wanting to let me go. But he wouldn't have a thing to do with my partner.

Imagine what octopus would be like if they were able to teach their kids what they know.

They are so smart but every generation has to re-invent the wheel over and over again.

If evolution decides one day that octopus can live and raise and teach their babies, they would start building tools, breeding food and building societies within a few geberations.
