NORTH GEORGIA: From BRASSTOWN BALD to DAHLONEGA - the BEST places to visit

Join a journey to the North of the state Georgia - from Georgia's highest mountain Brasstown Bald, to the remote Helton Creek Falls, through the Chattahoochee National Forest to the scenic town Dahlonega.

I always used to think, that nothing can go wrong, when traveling the mountains. Because the mountains is where I feel at home. But Northern Georgia and its scenic Blueridge Mountains had its own challenges waiting. Dense fog, adventurous watercrossings and a stunning ride that took me to Brasstown Bald, Helton Creek falls and to the most beautiful roads of the Chattahoochee National Forest all the way to the town Dahlonega. Enjoy a roadtrip to Northern Gerorgia's best destinations.

My highlights of the journey:
- Book a night at Brasstown Valley Resort to unwind and have the perfect base for trips in the nearby area
- Visit the highest point of the state: the mountain Brasstown Bald. The native Cherokee peoples name for Brasstown Bald is Enotah and It is located in the northeastern part of the state in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is supposed to have the best views of the whole state. On a clear day, it is possible to see the tall buildings of Atlanta, 85 miles or 136 kilometers away, from the summit
- Visit the remote Helton Creek Waterfalls. The Helton Creek road is a nice serviced forest road - if you ride the full lenght and do a roundtrip, you will have to cross the creek twice.
- From Highway 19 turn off to route 180 direction Suches and then turn north west on route 60 to Blue Ridge.
- Explore the Chattahoochee National Forest . It may best be known as the southern end of the Appalachian Trail. The expansive forest area sprawls over 750,000 acres or 3000 square kilometers of protected forest land in the North Georgia mountains. Indeed one of the best times of visiting is not spring but autumn, to enjoy the leaves turning from green to yellow to red
- Stay a night in the scenic town Dahlonega. Dahlonega is also called the heart of the Georgia mountains. Site of the first major U.S. Gold Rush and the center of Georgia Wine Country, Dahlonega is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a popular destination for weekend trips from Atlanta, which is only an hour drive.
- Meet and have a chat with all the friendly locals :)

You have definitely captured the Southern Appalachian mountain region, both the people and the landscape! As Native Southerners, we try our best to be humble and helpful. I’m so glad you experienced this in our land. Ride safe Lea!

My German friends always laugh when they go to the store here, just getting some groceries.
They learn all about the life of the cashier, without even asking a question! =)

Lea! This episode was so good. We were totally gobsmacked when you took the drone over the clouds! Such a stunning sequence. We loved it. And yes, I agree with you about the chattiness of my fellow Americans. My last long ride was from Iowa to Seattle. Almost every gasoline stop resulted in conversations with the local people. To me, that is one of the best parts of these trips.

I moved to Georgia about 7 years ago and absolutely love it here. I take my Harley out almost every weekend and travel up into the mountains.

How lovely! Ordinary people are just the nicest and always restore a little bit of faith in humanity when you benefit from the kindness of strangers ❤️

My brother lived in Atlanta for a few years and when we visited we always went to the mountains so your videos brought back memories. Love the interaction with locals. I have always said rural America is the most joyous place to travel in because everyone wants to make it special for a visitor. I live in Ireland and it's similar. Stay safe and keep the rubber on the ground and upright.

It's great seeing this through someone else's eyes. I ride in N.W. Ga and the beauty is breathtaking.

Very nice video! There is a town near Blue Ridge named Helen. It is a Bavarian style town even with an October Fest !! I wish you could have seen the views from Brasstown Bald though. You have had an amazing trip. Best!

I just finished a 6, 000 mile road trip up to Oregon following the Oregon Trail, then down the west side of the Sierra's, through Death Valley, Vegas, and back to Texas. I did it in a truck though. After your videos, it makes me want to get back out there, but on a motorcycle.

It’s awesome to see a world traveler do a video from where I grew up. Awesome shots with the drone, I’m really glad you did the water crossings they’re not nearly as scary as they look

One can’t go very far off-road in GA or TN without meeting water crossings. You did good on such a big bike.
