Many people have been worried and stopped ordering from Aliexpress because of the new impending VAT rules. Since we've now passed the 1st of July and they are now in effect for most EU countries, let's take a quick look at it and see how bad they really are.

I've been doing a lot of livestreams recently, let me know if some of you would appreciate some cut up information parts from those streams in videos like this! 👍

You actually do have to pay VAT when ordering from EU Warehouses. The new law doesn't care about from where the order is shipped, only about where the selling company is located. I think this is the only big negative point from the new rules. I have bought 200-400 euro items like monitors, 3d printer, phones from EU Warehouses which now became a lot more expensive.

I'm thinking exactly the same. I don't mind paying the tax (20% MwSt here in Austria), it's only fair towards local businesses. But the 10€ handling fee of the postal service was too prohibitive.
With the 22€ limit gone (to zero), but tax being payed, I will actually make bigger orders. Previously I split orders into multiple packages (if possible) over several days so the seller wouldn't send them in one package and might trigger a customs check. Now I don't have to worry (below 150€).
Well at least I hope it really works that way, because I've already spent over 100€ on several aliex orders over the last few days. Withdrawal symptoms from not ordering anything in June so non-tax-payed packages would arrive in July. ;)

I can only speak for myself and I have come to the conclusion that my shopping from Aliexpress will now be reduced by atleast 90%

The new system they implemented does not worl for my wallet.

I had alot of stuff in my cart that I wanted to order for my winter project and now its not worth it in my opinion.

What does that mean for me ?
My winter project is gone until another way around this is created. I cannot afford to buy from aliexpress and neither from my own country.

Some stuff I will still order. Stuff that are simply not avalible here. The other things i must learn to live without.

I am very thankful for all the years Aliexpress has provided me with reasonable prices but I will walk another road now.

Thank you from Sweden ! 🙏

Polish Post will now charge almost 2 EUR flat rate per package, even if VAT is charged by Ali already, for the cost of customs declaration. Olbigatory!

Definitely placing an order for something cheap right now to see if this let's it through PostNord's horrid services in Denmark.

The issue I’m finding is sellers aren’t putting the the IOSS number on the package so there is no proof it has been paid once it arrives!

Thanks for the 'heads up' on this :-)

I have no issues with paying the tax. What I do have an issue with is a 10Euro extortion fee to our local post office to "take care of it for me". If I just got an email from our customs to pay the VAT I would have no issue with that.

It's not only vat but customs as wel that can charge you. On some shops you can choose ship from Spain for example.

also apply to ebay, amazon and every other web shop. I pay 25% tax or VAT

AliExpress is also charging the cost for products already in the EU!

In the UK we've had this since January (stupid Brexit). Stuff still come through the mail no problems. They still under declare on the packages...

Some things are still cheaper so I will still order from there, but the already kwon warehouse issue where you get taxed twice is almost like a scam. For 3D Printers and Phone like Xiaomi I stick to Amazon, the Price is the same (due to the double taxing) and I get a 2 Year warranty.

The Belgian Post charge 15 euro cost! Well its better than the 25 euros cost they charged before 1st July..

Norway have had this for a year already. Have had bummers where the seller have failed to add a declaration on the package which made me pay the VAT and import-fees another time. The shipping company refuses to refund, and says that I should get a refund from the seller....

In my country they also charge the customs for shipping but aliexpress only made me pay for the original price without the shipping.I wonder if they will charge extra because of this at the customs office. The handling fee is an extra 15 euros which sucks.

It's not just the vat these days I think. Lately I see more and more things cheaper here in the Netherlands than on Aliexpres.
