Rutan Long Ez VH IFX Test Flight

I'm glad the test flight went well! I noticed that the nose gear spring is not holding the nose up well. When the nose lowers, it changes the geometry of the nose wheel castering pivot, such that the nose wheel can shimmy violently (like a shopping cart wheel) and fail. Reference page 13-1 of the Long EZ plans for the proper geometry. There was a lot of discussion on this recently on COBA. Watch the speed brake on takeoff! 🙂

When did you notice that the airbrake was deployed whilst taking off? 😅

Всегда смотрю на Лонг изи как Медведь на мёд или малину😊Настолько он классный❤ Скорость, дальность, экономичность..Плохо конечно что " Ари" выкладывает часть процесса его постройки в большой скорости видео, что даже замедленная сьёмка не помогает, да и наверно ещё с пробелами в целостности видео...

ummm...CHECKLIST! That speed brake on takeoff could have been very bad. No doubt you also saw some stratospheric CHT's on climb out because of it as well. My EFIS CAS will scream at me if I advance power (or exceed 95 kts) with the speed brake deployed.
