a short film originally produced for and seen on tour
made by billie eilish

do you know me?
really know me?
you have opinions
about my opinions
about my music
about my clothes
about my body
some people hate what I wear
some people praise it
some people use it to shame others
some people use it to shame me
but I feel you watching
always
and nothing I do goes unseen
so while I feel your stares
your disapproval
or your sigh of relief
if I lived by them
I’d never be able to move
would you like me to be smaller?
weaker?
softer?
taller?
would you like me to be quiet?
do my shoulders provoke you?
does my chest?
am I my stomach?
my hips?
the body I was born with
is it not what you wanted?
if I wear what is comfortable
I am not a woman
if I shed the layers
I’m a slut
though you’ve never seen my body
you still judge it
and judge me for it
why?
we make assumptions about people
based on their size
we decide who they are
we decide what they’re worth
if I wear more
if I wear less
who decides what that makes me?
what that means?
is my value based only on your perception?
or is your opinion of me
not my responsibility

She wears layers, people have issues, she wears less, people have issues. People are never happy. Ignore them. Theres always someone who’s got an issue.

“if our eyes saw souls instead of bodies, what would we define as beauty?”

this has been one of my favorite quotes for many reasons. it reminds me that my worth isn’t based on my outer appearance or what society calls beautiful. i hope to find my worth one day.

"Do my shoulders provoke you, does my chest, am I my stomach, my hips." I feel like this is so powerful, especially to ppl who make school dress codes. like we are teenage girls, we should not provoke middle ages men

Can't even tell when was the last time a so well-known artist bared their soul in such an in-your-face way. That whole album dealt with the aftermath of sudden rise to fame, definitely it wasn't easy for a child. Mad props, Billie, for this song and your attitude.

"We make assumptions of people based on their size, we decide who they are and what they are worth." This is such an accurate description of society nowadays its actually sickening.

It disgusts me how people feel they need to bring down an 18 year old woman about her body.

People judge to quickly. Everyone is beautiful, Billie doesn’t deserve it, no one has seen her body but people still judge it. I LOVE YOU BILLIE SM!

I actually didn't know how she was feeling about all this.. I was kinda scared when she turned 18 because people acted as if they would rip her clothes off because she's not a minor anymore.. it kinda gave me anxiety for her.. stay safe love

The fact that an eighteen year old felt the need to do this breaks my heart. But she shut those haters up. 👏🏽👏🏽

“Though you’ve never seen my body you still judge it and judge me for it. Why?”... unfortunately we all fall victim to this, yet ironically it’s still us, the victims, that make others feel this way

this really hit me deep, it made me realize that humanity is draining. mentally draining.. and billie is a powerful woman. she shares her story and she makes a relatable song, i assume its inspired by her own experiences. and feelings. i listened to this many times, it gives me a chill. its beautiful. its unique.
