As a Dutchman here. We prefer the term 'Allies' over 'Proxy' tyvm

I've read several US retired pilots say they'd be glad to help Ukraine if they want them.

The various European countries sending F-16s to Ukraine are NOT "proxy countries." They're independent nations acting for themselves who are extremely concerned about Russian aggression (again!).

There is "no love lost" between Poland and Russia. Poland is one of Ukraine's strongest allies.

I really hope the F-16s are already in Ukraine and the military of these countries asked the global press to delay the story or say they are "on their way" when they are already there..

Netherlands needed an export license from the USA to be allowed to export the fighters.
This license was granted last week
Netherlands air force has 24 F16s left currently being replaced by F-34 fighters.

The Netherlands provides 24 xF16 of their own.
The waiting was for the US to give the promission, in the meanwhile the pilots and ground personel where trained.

The US isn't sending F16's to Ukraine. They only gave their permission to the NATO partners to send THEIR F16's to Ukraine. We bought those planes years ago.

Its not "proxy" deliveries. It is Danish fighters, Norwegian fighters and Dutch fighters that are being delivered. They are getting to be surplus due to phasing in F35, also bought and paid for by the same countries.

If they’re announcing that the jets are on their way, you can already guarantee that they are already there.

Those valiant and brave people of Ukraine 🇺🇦.
God bless them.

The F16s are not being sent by the US. They are owned by the countries donating them and were part of their respective air forces. The US gets a say because it is the country of manufacture. The various countries donating F16s are mostly upgrading to F35s. About 80 F16s are promised but only 12 or so will be sent in the first batch. Ukraine still needs to train more pilots.

It’s not only the fighter jets, no use only flying them. It’s also about armaments so they can fight. Thanks to the Netherlands for giving € 450 M in armaments to Ukraine on top of the 24 jets.

They should have received F-16s two years ago.

Thank you for your good work and as well as informing of how thinking in our country is going . For i do not watch any USA news nor have not lived in the States for years . As for the F16 news it is fAbout time for i have been so ashamed of our country's leadership for holding up the best weapon systems over and over again .This is our war for we are a major power of the western world and this war is against the west and nothing else . Personal opinion .

I am an American living in the Netherlands for quite some time here. Last summer, I was working on a restaurant beach hut when I heard loud jets flying by. Naturally, I went outside to look at them and they were F-16s. I knew instantly that they were Ukrainian pilots in there being trained, as a recent article came out then announcing the training program. Feels weird seeing them finally arrive in Ukraine. Godspeed to the pilots and to Ukraine

Norway has decided a long time ago, and have contributed to the training. None of the countries donating F16s are donating US planes by proxy. They are donating their own old F16s that they are phasing out. The number from Norway is simply the remaining number of worthwile airframes. Further, the NAMMO 10-fold production is regarding the high end shells, I don't know if this is simply base-bleed, or if they are refering to their experimental ramjet shells. Ordinary 155mm production will be increased by 2-3 times from the current capacity, which has already been expanded significantly since pre war.

We must not call independent countries in Europe 'proxies'...
Three are countries formed hundreds of years before the USA was even thought of, USA being founded from members of several of these European countries...
