ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this YouTube journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

Thanks
This was fabulous. I teach dyslexic students, but my primary job is teaching teachers to teach dyslexic students how to read. One of my presentations is teaching the different task jobs/talents of right/left hemispheric dominance. You have just done a fabulous job of demonstrating and describing the difference in an artistic way. Everything you said also applies to learning to read. I love it when the science of reading and the science of art collide (probably combine would be a better word.)

I find it helpful to turn up saturation as well for finding unexpected colors

Hullo Margot, I think this is an excellent tip for phone use! I watched another artist making pastel paintings and they took a photo of a reference and turned it gray and dialed up the contrast to allow the artist to see blocks of shades and create a better under-painting! Wonderful tips Margot, Thanks and Please keep them coming!

Margot, you combine such entertaining videos with instructive art and painting skills. I love your tips from the art school you attended. When did you ever have time to be a ballerina? My favorite tip from you was the soap holder for paint brushes.

I knew about using my phone for the gray scale but for color mixing too, that’s a huge game changer. This is definitely a wonderful valuable tool for painting. Thanks for sharing this information with us!

Thank you. This was great. Hadn't thought of using the phone for anything other than reference pictures. Great tips. Look forward to your videos each week for both learning and laughing.😄

Brilliant, thank you! I use my phone all the time to zoom in and compose drawings and paintings, but I’ve never thought of changing photos to greyscale! 👍🏻😊

That book is a treasure, when I need back to basics in drawing I read it and make the exercises again ❤

Nice video thank you. I use the app 'colour gear' that gives you a very detailed palet of your picture. Love that

I love you so much. Life has been so stressful, and many family health emergencies. Watching you just takes it all away for a bit.❤

Wow Margot, some great suggestions. I already use my phone for drawing…as I often take pictures of flowers, bugs etc when I am out and about…but I never thought of using it for value studies…or really playing around with the aspect ratio…I ‘ll definitely be trying some of these suggestions….thanks a million 😊❤
