Decoded Leather iPhone Case Review: a Great Alternative to FineWoven

This is my review of the Decoded leather case for Apple's iPhone 15 series of phones. I got mine in the tan color, for my natural titanium iPhone 15 pro max. It's a solid option since Apple no longer make leather cases and of the few cases that I've tried I think it's the best one.

I got their detachable wallet case in "clay" for my iPhone 15 pro max. It's great! The color is a tad darker than on the website which I like. The color of the "metal" bits matches the titanium around the cameras. It looks really nice.

Hi, i just got the same one but power button is not such as „clicky” as yours. TBH it is working pretty hard. Should i send it back and order new one or this isn’t that important and there is nothing to worry about?

are the magnets of the magsafe case strong enough?

Hi Kazi, could you let me know how strong the MagSafe connection is? A lot of comments for Mujjo or Bellroy, Andar, Bullstrap, Casetify have weak magnets. I myself bought the bellroy leather case and my Apple Wallet slips off too easily for my liking. The original Apple leather case had quite strong magnets perfect for me! Shame it’s been discontinued :( I love my Apple wallet and I use it all the time. Thank you!

The dumb date branding on camera ring was a deal breaker for me as with castify so so went with Nomad. Happy with it.

It's such an elegant case... initially bought one for my iPhone 15 pro max.. liked it so much, I bought two more for my family and the AirPod Pro case.. PS, they have a Black Friday Sale this week!

I myself watched pretty much every leather case video on YouTube prior to purchasing a non-leather case for my iPhone 15 Pro Max. One common theme among all leather case reviews is the fact that no drop tested was ever done. The main issue that turned me away from leather cases is the fact the leather tends to rip at the impact point, unlike non-leather cases which have some kind of rubbery bumper around the edges that might pick up a minor gash or scratches during a fall. In other words, I ultimately decided that a non-leather case would last longer than a leather case when accidental drops are considered. Nothing beats the beauty of leather when new, but it's hard to beat non-leather cases when practical use over time is considered.

I want to like it, but I do not like the establish date around the camera ring. I’ll stick with Andar for leather cases.

how strong is the MagSafe? I don't see a MagSafe ring in the case itself, making me wonder if it just uses the phone's. Do stands and charge trees work? Does the phone fall off MagSafe easily?

How is it holding up after 2 weeks? How are the buttons and is the charger cut out big enough for 3rd party cables like Satechi and Belkin?

Great Video. And appreciate you taking the time and effort of your other video on the fine woven case. Exact same situation with me. I bought the Fine Woven, out of curiosity. After 2 months of use, I have started to like it. So will keep it. But I was missing a good leather case. I bought this exact Decoded case and have been using it for 2 weeks. But I didn’t like the metal frame around the camera bump, and it used to be a rough landing whenever I kept my 15Pro on a table. Also, the leather somehow felt not so much leather like to me (just like you, I didn’t smell leather on it ;)). So I picked up the Bellroy Phine case. I found the bellroy to be a much better case. For some reason, it’s significantly lighter than this Decoded or Apple fine woven case. And the leather smells like leather. Yes the bumpers are made out of TPU but they blend is very well with the leather surface tugged into it.

If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you do. It’s a great case, but at €10 more than the Decoded one.
