The 2023 fig rooting season has started!
Today I am rooting: seven Celeste, five Chicago Hardy, and one Lattarula (Italian Honey)
I gathered the following materials to make this even a success:
- "dirt" made of equal parts of Coco Coir, Peat Moss and Perlite;
- Rooting Powder;
- Plastic bags;
- Parafilm
- Rubber bands;
- A variety of tags;
- Water.

Very cool! Just got my very first fig tree. It's a Chicago hardy. I chose it because of the winters here. Enjoy your videos a lot. Liked and subscribed.

I’m stuck between using Peat Moss and Coco Coir; the last thing I want is fungus gnats and everytime I used Peat for seeds, it molds unlike Coir; %90 of cuttings fail because of mold or fungus gnats…… do you use an insecticide/ fungicide ?

I use this method to root plumeria plants. Do you prefer this bag method over pot or water rotting?

Can you recommend other cold hardy varieties? I'm zone 6 in Kentucky. It snows here and sometimes gets down to single digits but I can only grow outdoors in ground.

What size pots do most people have that have to bring their figs in?
