I hate to be the one to break it to you, but I have lived in Peoria almost all my life until I was about 48 years old. I was from the southside and the drugs, gang murders and serial killers in that area absolutely ridiculous and for you to be trying to get people to move there just to make some money because you’re a real realtor you need to reevaluate your situation and look at the facts before you send people to their deaths.

Peoria Illinois is a depressed city...sad but true. Born and raised here...54 yrs. This city has lost its life unfortunately. You see it when you drive around. Downtown is DEAD! People look miserable it seems. We were voted one of the rudest cities in the US a few yrs ago. I hate leaving this comment yet I'm being truthful. Someone needs to come in and turn the city around...breathe life back into it. So much history and beauty here. I'm praying for it! I live out off Farmington Rd near the county jail...a hidden gem yet im ready to move. The state has done it for me and I do cry thinking of leaving yet I must. Life's not a dress rehearsal and I'm not getting any younger. Tired of waiting on positive change 😔💔

I moved from Peoria, IL to California in 1994. Best day of my life! CA is politically more liberal, my neighbors are much more international, my job and friends improved, and the temperature never gets below freezing in the winter. Never looked back.

How could it be the 50th best place to live in the states if it’s number 13 for violent crime in the nation?

I'm in Peoria for work. I would never move here. Thank God I'm leaving this city tomorrw. Went to Walmart and didn't even feel like it was safe to get out or my truck. They had those blue flashing police poles all over the parking lot and I was the only white guy that I saw. The roads are crazy. I'm pretty sure there's a fart tax here too.

I just a YT short from you saying Peoria was the worst city to live in….

It’s boring in Peoria Illinois. There are no jobs and it has a ton of crime! There is nothing to do there. Downtown Peoria has a ghetto neighborhood for low income crime families.

To be honest, the only time peoria starts getting bad is when too many people live here. Do you agree with me sir?

Currently live in Texas and am considering a move to...somewhere else. It's unbelievable how cheap the houses are in Peoria. I've never lived in a place that got really cold in the winter, though, and I'm not sure how I'd handle it.

I got talked into moving to Arkansas. I loved the nature. Everything else is hell. I have culture shock too. Child abuse is a sport here. You can get away with abuse and carrying an AK down the street but don't get caught with pot or go to Prison for 10 years. The schools are about worse in nation. I miss seeing people that aren't white . I am older and want to move back to my beloved Illinois. The people in Central Illinois are the best! Every place has it's problems but I will take Illinois anytime. I love to walk but don't here because I could be used as target practice. My cat was shot and I live out in country. I'm looking to move to smaller town close to Peoria. I have lived here about ten years. If you want a place with 20 acres in Arkansas, I will be selling. There is no place like home.

I'm from central Illinois and lived here my entire life. Literally EVERYONE I know all agrees Peoria is a bad place and to avoid it at all costs. I had to go there for orientation at a new job once since the main location for the company is there and I hated every second. Construction that never finishes, the roads are laid out in extremely confusing an needless ways. Not to mention the crime is abhorrent no wonder the housing is so cheap.

Hey dude I remember you. I used to work out w your dad Rich Sr. back from 02 thru 05 at the Edge Fitness Center out at Pioneer Parkway here in town. I remember u would go in there and u had a brother that lifted during that time too. Your old man was strong as hell, I remember him bench pressing 405 to 425 on a regular basis. He was friends w Dave Wooley RIP.

This city sucks don't move here. There is nothing to do there unless you're going to a bar or restaurant. Taxes are outrageous in Illinois. Now the crime is out of control too.

I grew up in the Peoria area and moved out of state. I know the crime rate is really high in the city.

Moving To Peoria IL??? Wow that is a stretch. Maybe 60+ years ago when employment was plentiful, taxes were somewhat reasonable, public schools weren't horrible and crime was lower. My wife and I left Peoria the day we were married in 1986. The lack of economic opportunity in a town dominated by 1 employer was the main driver to get the hell out and so glad we did. We have prospered personally and financially by moving to an area with a growing economy, appreciating property values, better weather and reduced taxes. We go back multiple times a year to visit and can see the area contracting in size. Cheap home purchase cost is about the only positive aspect about living in PIA.

Crime stats are overblown anyway. They're always reported relatively but they don't tell you that the highest crime rate cities actually have a REALLY LOW crime rate if you don't think of it in only relative terms.
