Most countries celebrate "Workers' Day" (as in, you know, the actual people) and some others just a distant abstract noun: "Labour Day". Think about it.

Labour Day is September 5 in the United States... May Day / Workers Day isn't a holiday in the US.

There's nothing inherently wrong with labor unions or workers rights, but 8 hour work days and many other legal restrictions hinders workers rights by restricting the choices they may make.

Ultimately competition and the ability to choose others is what protects both employees and employers from abuse. Not legislation.
