During Saturday's Monster Jam World Finals XX (20) Freestyle Competition, Showdown winner Linsey Read took the early lead. As the second truck on the track, she wowed the crowd with several impressive and intense tricks including a backflip and posted the highest score in World Finals competition.

After nearly a one-hour weather delay, track crews began a hectic effort to return the surface to a favorable condition. With rain still falling, the remaining competitors gave it a shot. Todd LeDuc (Monster Energy) re-enacted the 2014 Freestyle-winning “LeDuc Leap” and maintained a torrid pace, but the effort came up short. Provisional leader Read watched with her husband and daughter as challengers tried but could not knock her score from the pinnacle. On Mother’s Day weekend, the only mother in the field became a World Champion.

Read is the only Showdown winner to win Freestyle in the same year. She joins Mike Vaters II as the only Showdown winner who has become a World Champion. Vaters picked up his title in the year following his Showdown title.

In 2019, seven World champions will be crowned on May 10-11 in Orlando, FL.

I know a lot of people are saying “She was one of the only ones who filled time in” And I can agree with that, but you don’t always need to fill time to take the lead, and the fan judging just makes it 10x worse. Feld take it away already, it’s so annoying of a system. Little 8 year olds voting for the only truck they want to win isn’t fun for other people.

This world finals was the best and worst one. Best because of the INSANE air that Todd and Tom got, worst because of the fact that Lindsey won by a cool little save at the end, even heavy d’s save was better!

I waited till today and yesterday to watch racing and freestyle. I literally blocked my computer screen so I would not see who won so that when I went to YouTube I could just go to Monster Jam Lord channel and watch it as if I was there live. I watched it all. I have no words but am awestruck. I can't ebleive Linsey read won. I'm not mad at all I'm simply amaed that seh did it.
