STAR WARS: Echoes Of The Past (Original Animated Short)

I made this short film before The Last Jedi even went into production, but somehow it feels a lot more relevant now that TLJ has come out and caused such controversy.

What I wanted to do with this project was to make an animated Star Wars short without any lightsabers or crazy CGI. I wanted to explore what a simple conversation between master and padawan would look like, and in particular to bridge the original trilogy (Luke) with the new trilogy (Rey) by using a prequels story element (Midi-Chlorians), and have it all stand on its own in these 3 short minutes. It's not perfect, but I'm super proud of it nevertheless.

With the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story right around the corner, there's no better time to release thie Star Wars short. Maybe I'll make a sequel about Jyn Erso's adventures? Something about Darth Vader, a young Obi-Wan Kenobi story maybe? Boba Fett would be great material to work with as well.

As far as I am concerned, that IS Episode 8. This is why Disney failed: you brought more heart & soul to these 5 mins 11 seconds then they have to their last several hundred minutes. Thank you.

This is really cool! Refreshing to see some story aspects from fan projects instead of the usual flailing light sabres. Big fan of Brizzys too so that was a cherry on top to see or hear rather.

The quote "But we must not judge the mistakes of our forbearers. Instead, the echoes of the past must guide our future. We know better now..." is a good way to look at the prequel films. Rather than living in the mistakes of the past (the prequel films) we should hope for a better future and appreciate what we've learned since then.
