Masten XS-1 Aerothermal calculations

Masten Space Systems utilized HPCMP supercomputers to invent a new way to launch small & medium sized satellites, and return to the launch site - achieving the 'aircraft-like' operations the XS-1 program called for. This video displays trajectory simulation results for a launch, staging (upper stage continues to LEO) and reentry of the booster stage.
