scca is amazing, you dont need any mods to race. I have a bone stock 2014 chevy cruze which ive raced and although i wasnt the fastest i still had a blast pushing my little family sedan to its limits💯

Heh, I bought my '04 Mazdaspeed Miata with a few modest engine mods in place (Megasquirt, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, etc) and while I'm running it at low boost an only making 220 - 230 whp, those mods stick me all the way up into the newer XS-B class. Where almost anything goes, you need a license plate and 200TW pretty much. If I undid a few mods I'd drop all the way back to the E-street class.

SCCA has a class briefing sheet. One page covers STREET, STREET TOURING, STREET PREPARED and STREET MODIFIED. Covers a lot of the same mods here. Oh and Street Prepared can use lightened Flywheel.. A longtime CSP driver

Huh, Guess I'm punching above my weight. Ran SM for my first season and chased the leader by 2 seconds... on all season radial tires, stock sways, BC coil overs, FMIC on stock turbo, and a tune for 91 pump gas. Last few events, I learned that I could take out my spare tire. Here is to a better next year (already upgraded the sways, and saving up for tires)

I’m going to go to my next auto-x event with my own interpretation of this video and just bend the rules and tell them Bryan from countersteer garage said so.

Be aware that some cars are banned in stock class because of their rollover hazard. Non-ST Ford Fiesta, Non-Abarth Fiat 500 for example.

You will have to lower them or widen the track in order to be able to compete. That automatically pushes you into modified class. So you in your 100hp car would be in modified, while stock ST or Abart with 200hp will be stock.

Thank you for the explanation. Seems straight forward, too straight forward - however, (not quite fair?). I am looking to attend my first autocross event in a couple weeks with my new Corvette C8Z06 (670hp). It is a stock vehicle. However it seems unfair to be in the same category as say a stock Corolla in street class. Although I have done a couple track-focused driving schools, I would consider myself a novice to autocross. Now I am sure that there are guys out there that will hand me my butt with half the horsepower, but how are the other factors of (make, model, hp, experience level...) factored into determining your class? Thanks for any help or advice you can give, and thank you for the video. Looking forward to entering this new journey.

After using the class calculator on the SCCA website it says I am in street modified. However I have the rear of my car stripped (seats, spare tire, sound deadening) so I'm a little confused when you said cars cannot be stripped in that class.

Do you know if I can run Kirkey seats in SM it says they have to be upholstered so does the foam cover count? Also I have a 4 point rollbar appendix c in a convertible e36 does this mean I can strip the full interior because of the added rollbar?

What kinda cars are allowed in each class however? Is it solely based on mods? Would excessive mods put a basic car up against something supercar level?

Can any car compete? Are there restrictions? Could i say fully build a car and put downpipes nos etc and fit in a class or would i have to use specific cars and only certain mods?

Theres not a lot of info on all of this

So... With what I plan to do to my Accord, I'd end up at least in Street Prepared, and that's before the idea of the Mid-Engine swap. Oh wait, no; Street Modified since they don't like engine builds and aftermarket seats in Street Prepped. Honestly, screw it. I don't want to compete if it's this asinine.
