F-35 Demonstration (MCAS Miramar 2014)

The second ever F-35 public airshow demo performed today (10/3/14) at MCAS Miramar in San Diego.
How lucky were we? Even though it was extremely limited.

All clips (except one), were recorded by me. The flying F-35 flew in from Yuma and performed for a few minutes. It then landed and probably refueled before taking off 20min later, bound for Yuma.

Whether or not we think the F-35 is or isn't worth the cost, wait, effectiveness, etc etc blah blah no one can deny that was pretty damn cool! Very nice demo

Thanks for posting! I was hoping they would show the aircraft maneuver more. This seems just like the last demonstration. Is that all the f-35 did right there?

Great video, thanks for posting!  Hope the Marine variant is a decent Harrier replacement at least, given all the trouble it's caused in trying to incorporate STOVL into this common airframe.  Gotta say though, the Sukhoi PAK FA looks the part of a true 5th gen air superiority fighter...kinda wish we had something comparable in the works in addition to this stubby little single engine multi-role fighter.  (Yeah, the Air Force has its 180 or so F-22s, but the Navy retired the F-14 prematurely with no true fleet air defense fighter to take its place.)

Like the fixed red flag exercise, they will use it as an AWACS and a striker against legacy air defenses. If it does not have F-22 as protection, it is doomed and if escorted by F-15s, F-18s or F-16s then there goes the stealthy surprise !.

Quite disappointed about the maneuevr, i knew that the short wings doesnt make it superior fighter plane. it's more like an attack plane.

this plane is strike bomber. not much of a fighter jet where it stressing their maneuverability and offense defense capability.

This video does not show any dogfighting potential within this aircraft. It can takeoff, it can land and it displays its stovl capability and thats it. What a boring airshow for the people.

The Marines are admitted jar heads and that wouldn't be so bad if they at least knew who their bosses really are (hint dual citizens). Anyhow, the point is why would anyone listen to the Marines when they say they need a 1 trillion dollar "bragging right". All VTOL aircraft are highly suspect, but they make for a great airshow demonstration, don't they?

This was a boring performance. None of the breathtaking acrobatics I expect from a fighter. Have seen airliners put on a better show than this. Not many people clapping. I don't blame them.
