This fly is tied by the world's worst fly tyer, Svend Diesel. By putting the beads on the top of the fly, it's going to ride upside down- but that's what you do when you tie for the gram and not for fishing.

Honestly though- there are better patterns than this. Check out Morten Oleland (great Youtube content) his Gammarus technique makes the best scuds/shrimp/gammarus patterns. He takes 2 partridge feathers with one side of the feathers aligned lengthwise, and inserts them into a Petitjean Magic tool. He then spins them in a dubbing loop and after dubbing a very sparse buggy body, he ribs with the hackle fibers making it look very alive and gives it the appearance of movement- something this static, arts and crafts based pattern does not have.

I've settled on simpler flies to tie and fish. Spend 30 min. on a complex pattern and lose it on the first cast. Haha

The dilemma of tying super nice ties but then not wanting to fish them 😂 that’s why I tie a heap with a CDL tail, some hairs ear dubbing and some ice dub, super easy
