Fascinating science Professor. You did a great job constructing it in the end and it worked perfectly. Thank you for sharing.

A very entertaining room humidifier . Could one be built to go on top of a wood stove to drive a fan to disperse heat through the house?

I think we should look at some of this old technologies and see if it could be adapted to modern times. Great vid professor!

I do love a model that actually does something,
If you block the holes up and stand near it... Then you're definitely a hero

Turbines us blades for efficiency in modern power generation. In fact, a guest speaker from our power admitted that power production uses more water than all other water usage in modern cities. I thought that was an interesting fact. 🤔

Very relaxing vidio professor, see why people build a have such things other than model railway sets, , 🤔

Could you imagine if Hero's steam engine was used in more practical applications during the Roman Empire era. The world could've been so much different. Too bad it was only considered a toy and nothing more.

Perhaps you could build, show and explain a Stirling Engine.

The tiny model could be a generator, by simply putting magnets on it, and a coil on atleast 3sides evenly spaced, it's not going to do much,
I guess a boat is the best use, being its going to use alot of water!!

Hero studied at the great library, as did Eristhosthenes who measured the circumference of the World quite well, there were a lot of answers in that library, the truth was out there.

I learned about Hero when I was at college doing my diploma in aeronautical engineering. Bet you could have made that on your lathe.

Why doesn't it explode?

Just remembering helping my mum clean up after canning disasters with her pressure cookers (and those had valves).

I thought it was a bit naff until I saw it dates from the 1st century lol.
Not bad for an ancient technology.

I was in my twenties or early 1980's. I also read on the properties of bronze which had stress-strain properties closed to low grade steels but of course bronze is heavier than steel. My first thought was; why didn't the Greeks launch the industrial revolution or replace man/animal power with machines. Then my mind answered, "they had slaves and didn't realize the need for machines". Then my mind asked something interesting; are there any scientific curiosities that our society

hmm would be possible to build an interesting musical engine with those ...just way to hook up sound organic or digital in some method ...might make some interesting sounds ....i am thinking here of the whistle as steam passes through that gap ..and maybe possible to experiment with that part see if can get to produce interesting sounds like a flute etc etc

As Professor Simon would say the answers are out there even if no one has found them yet.
