Hands-on with Amazon’s new Fire HD tablets

Amazon is back with new Fire tablets — including one that costs a ridiculously low $50 brand new. You can even get them in a six-pack. But can these new tablets do more than just show you Amazon Video? Lauren Goode from The Verge finds out.

With phone size and performance, I don't even want a tablet anymore. That said, if I were to buy a cheap one, I'd hope that it's a suuuper quick/snappy experience or else it's trash.

I been a fan of iPad I used android tablets but as of 2015 when I bought my 1st amazon fire HDX 6 I personally fell in love and so many of you probably don't even read books but I am 39 and these amazon tablets won me over not Apple not android but the fire tablets are amazing stop talking shot there are people who love what they love.

This feels like a game changer. The perfect device for the average consumer that really only needs a tablet for media consumption. Would they really need any more than this?

Fire os 5 actually looks better than fire os 4 but I still wish it was stock android

I think they should release another version of the fire HDX. With good specs to complete with the ipads like they did before. A lot more people would buy it.

I don't know about many individual consumers will buy this but it does look like something a company could buy in bulk for it's employees. I don't know why they'd do that but they could.

Based on the screen resolution they are not HD tablets. The resolution on the $49 tablet is the same as the first Fire released in 2011. The resolution on the Fire "HD" 10 is much lower than the $49 tablet! 171 ppi to 149 ppi. Yes, that's right. 149 ppi. It's really amazing that no one has mentioned this in their reviews.

It's $50 it's also £50 in the uk which is equivalent to about $78. :(

It will be my third Kindle if I upgrade, loving the color selections without a doubt! Also expandable storage is great!
