Egypt: Luxor, the Temple and the Museum

Luxor, the capital of Upper Egypt, offers some unmissable wonders The Temple of Amun in Luxor, or Southern Opet, is dedicated to the worship of Amun. The entrance to the temple was built by Pharaoh Ramses 2 in the 13th century BC. In front of the towers, he had 6 statues representing him placed. The sanctuary itself, the residence of Amun, with its Hypostyle hall, have kept a good part of their slab cover.

There are always some people whom want to crawl out of under the rock ledge they've been hiding and bitch about something as from some of the comments here already, the music is not loud, if so turn down the volume. As for myself all I can say thanks, a very well done informative doco' of parts of the world I probably will never see but through your documentary I feel that I've been there, thoroughly enjoyable.

Karnak and Luxor were called "Uer Het em Amen-Ra" and Uer Het em Amen-Ra hedj" or "The Great Temple of Amen-Ra" and "The Great Temple of Amen-Ra South" (Luxor Temple, built by Amenhotep III) with the lesser Temples of Mut and Khonsu adjoining the Karnak temple. The nearby ancient capital city of the 18th to 20th Dynasties was called Wast ("the Strong City") but the name was changed to Thebes South by the Greeks at the time of Alexander the Great, circa 330 B.C. and for some unknown reason, everyone now calls it Thebes.

Why aren't these ancient "temples" in Egypt NOT called All of the Greek philosophers, mathmaticians & scientists learned what they knew in Kemet (Egypt). They went to what's now called Luxor to be taught for 10-20 years. Yet nobody ever calls anything a school. Everything is called a temple or burial sites as if that all Ancient Kemet/Egypt was about. Those "temples" were schools.
