as a person who gets called an artist far too many times, i say this is 100% true because in primary school.. i used to draw pretty cute drawings and i used to be better than all of my friends. so whenever i drew and somebody came, i would usually cover my art so they dont get obsessed and ask me to draw for them. right now i am not a FULL-TIME artist, but i do draw in spare time.
